Billy Godleman is targeting victory in the Royal London One-Day Cup clash with Durham at the Emirates Durham ICG on Monday; 10.30am start.

The Falcons make the trip to play the reigning champions knowing that a win will boost their quarter-final ambitions ahead of their final game at home to Worcestershire on Tuesday; 10.30am start.

Godleman believes the squad will be fully prepared as they look to reach the last eight for a second consecutive season.

“The lads are really excited about the fixture at Durham. It is a must win game for us if we want to put ourselves in a position to reach the quarter finals,” said Godleman.

“We have had a few meetings about the brand of cricket we are playing. We will do our usual preparation for the game at Durham and then look to go out and perform.

“We have had a really strong focus on what we do well, a game as big as this makes it even more important to start well. The first 10-12 overs will be very important regardless if we are batting or bowling.

“Durham will be a really good opportunity for us to test our one-day skills in a pressure situation where, if we win, we could have the opportunity to play in a quarter final which is really exciting.”

Godleman added: “It would be massive for the Club to get into the last eight again. The group have played some really good one-day cricket this year and won some good games of cricket.

“We have also fallen a little bit short in some games which has been disappointing. We are where we are, we could have had one or two more wins but it is about gaining the insights and learning from mistakes.

“We’ve played back to back games in the competition already, we all understand the demands with regards to travelling and that is part and parcel of a job that we all love.

“It has been nice for me to be able to contribute to our one-day performances and to play well in games that we have won.”
