Wicketkeeper Harvey Hosein is relishing his return to the scene where he broke the Derbyshire record for the most catches in a first-class fixture.

Derbyshire take on Surrey at the Kia Oval for the start of the LV= County Championship match on Tuesday, a ground where Hosein claimed 11 victims in the match as Derbyshire sealed an eight-wicket victory in the penultimate fixture of the 2014 season.

Hosein surpassed the previous record of 10 dismissals which was jointly held by Derbyshire and England legend Bob Taylor (1963) and Harry Elliott (1935), a feat made all the more remarkable as it was also the young wicketkeeper’s first-class debut.

The 19 year-old graduate from the Cricket Derbyshire Academy, in partnership with the University of Derby has fond memories of his achievement ahead of Tuesday’s trip.

“Obviously it was my debut last year and after taking all of those catches there last year it will be nice to head back on Tuesday,” said Hosein.

“I couldn’t have wished for a better debut, it was one of those games where the bowlers continued to feed me and I just did my job.

“I then found out afterwards that it was a record and it was really surreal. Looking back now it’s a massive milestone to get.

“Bob Taylor is a legend of the Club and I am really honoured to have that record against my name but credit has to go to the bowlers for continuing the find the edge.

“It’s a honour to be able to play at such a great ground again, hopefully we can do the same as last year and go there and win the game.

“Last year we won a lot a few games towards the end of the season, we have three games left this year and we want to emulate that.

“We have been some playing good cricket recently and we want to have a strong end to the season.”

Derbyshire are back in home action on Wednesday 9 September for the start of the LV= County Championship fixture versus Essex. Supporters can save £4 by purchasing tickets in advance.
