India cricket legend Mohammad Azharuddin and Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi will be at The 3aaa County Ground later this week as filming takes place for the upcoming film, Azhar.

The film, directed by Tony D’Souza, will be a biopic about the life of Azharuddin, who enjoyed successful spells with Derbyshire in 1991 and 1994.

In 1991, he scored 2,016 first-class runs for Derbyshire at an average of 59.29, hitting seven centuries and ten half-centuries that summer, as well as a further 500 runs in one-day matches. He returned to Derby three years later when he hit 712 first-class runs at an average of 44.50, including two centuries, in a spell that was cut short by a recall to the India Test side.

Azharuddin himself will be at the ground this week as they film shots of him in action at The 3aaa County Ground.

Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi, a leading contemporary actor of Hindi cinema who has received three Filmfare Award nominations, has been cast in the lead role and he will be in the city along with 130 other cast members and crew for the four days of filming.

Filming will take place from Wednesday 26 to Saturday 29 August, with the film due to be released in May 2016.

Producers are appealing for extras to appear in the film as part of crowd scenes on Friday 28 August, from 4pm to 8pm. This is your chance to appear in an international film and members of the public can show up on the day, via The 3aaa Pavilion entrance; Nottingham Road, DE21 6DA.
