Derbyshire Second XI won their first One-Day Trophy in 28 years with victory in an enthralling final versus Durham at Emirates Durham ICG on Thursday evening.

The Second XI went through the entire tournament unbeaten and secured a deserved victory after a fine all-round team performance.

Captain Wes Durston hit a quick-fire 41 at the top of the order, while Ben Slater struck 45 and Chesney Hughes top scored with 69 as Derbyshire posted 247-8 off their 50 overs.

Durham made a good start in reply, but three wickets from Tom Milnes (3-43), who is on loan from Warwickshire, and two wickets apiece for Durston (2-37), Tom Taylor (2-34) and Matt Critchley (2-51) ensured that Derbyshire would defend their total to claim victory by 10 runs and secure the county’s first Second XI silverware since 1987.

This is how players and supporters reacted to the memorable victory at Chester-le-Street.
