Clash with reigning champions washed out

Friday 28th July 2017
Written by Danny Painter

Derbyshire Falcons will share the points with NatWest T20 Blast reigning champions Northants Steelbacks after their match at The 3aaa County Ground was abandoned without a ball bowled.

Rain arrived in Derby in the morning and after moments of clear skies, it returned heavily in the evening, leading to an extremely wet outfield.

Umpires Alex Wharf and Stephen Gale called the game off 25 minutes before the scheduled 7pm start following a brief inspection.

Both teams take one point, with the Falcons moving onto nine and the Steelbacks onto ten in the NatWest T20 Blast North Group.

Derbyshire Falcons are next in action on Sunday, when they host Leicestershire Foxes in our Kids Go Free fixture at The 3aaa County Ground; 2.30pm start.

Supporters with matchday tickets for the fixture versus Northants Steelbacks should retain their tickets and these can be used at another Derbyshire home fixture in 2017, including the visit of the Foxes on Sunday. The ticket will be valid for all remaining home days of cricket, except the NatWest T20 Blast match versus Notts Outlaws.

NatWest T20 Blast is back this July and August. Save £4 by purchasing your matchday tickets in advance. While further discounts are available for groups of 10 or more. Buy online today to secure your place and save.
