Fast bowlers Ben Cotton and Tom Taylor have both extended their contracts at Derbyshire until the end of the 2018 campaign.

The Staffordshire-born duo both progressed through the Cricket Derbyshire Academy in partnership with the University of Derby and have established themselves within the Derbyshire first-team.

Cotton has appeared in 17 first-class fixtures since making his debut in 2014, claiming 34 wickets. He has also been a regular in the one-day formats, claiming 37 wickets in 30 games and was the Club’s leading wicket taker in the 2016 Royal London One-Day Cup competition.

Taylor, who was part of the Potential England Performance Programme last winter, has made 18 first-class appearances for Derbyshire, claiming 47 wickets including two five-wicket hauls, with best figures of 6-61.

Head Coach, John Sadler said: “We have moved to secure the long-term futures of a number of our key players in recent weeks, and the contract extensions for Ben and Tom are no different.

“They are both exciting fast bowlers who have the ability to win games for Derbyshire – and we must remember they’re still only 22 and 21 respectively.

“Both players will play important roles in our bowling unit as they continue to learn and improve their own games.”
