All-rounder Matt Critchley has signed a two-year contract with Derbyshire, committing him to the Club until the end of 2017.
The Cricket Derbyshire Academy in partnership with the University of Derby graduate has signed his first professional contract after breaking into the first team in 2015.
The 19-year-old became the youngest Derbyshire player to compile a first-class century in May when he hit an unbeaten 137 in the LV= County Championship fixture with Northamptonshire at Derby, in only his second first-class match.
He went on to feature in six first-class matches for Derbyshire in 2015, scoring 246 runs at an average of 41 and claiming four wickets, in addition to a further seven appearances in the Royal London One-Day Cup.
The Lancashire-born youngster also played a key role in the Second XI One-Day Trophy success for Derbyshire, taking nine wickets during the competition and averaging 48.50 with the bat.

Elite Performance Director, Graeme Welch said: “As a young lad coming into the side, Matt has performed very well in both formats this summer.
“He has displayed the right character and skill to succeed at this level. He will now have the opportunity to continue to develop his game further while contributing to winning games for Derbyshire.”
Critchley added: “I’m delighted to sign my first professional contract with the county. It’s been a special summer, making my first-class debut and hitting my maiden century in my first season.
“I’ve learnt a lot from being around the dressing room and playing alongside the senior players in the squad. I hope I can continue to get better and play a role in helping the Club win games on the field.”
