Derbyshire Seconds enjoy good day at Derby

Ben Cotton, Will Davis and Greg Cork took three wickets each as Derbyshire Second XI edged Day One of the Second XI Friendly with Glamorgan at The 3aaa County Ground.

The other Glamorgan wicket was taken by Harry White (1-28) as the visitors were bowled out for 238 before Derbyshire reached stumps on 91-2, 147 runs behind.

Cotton took three out of the first four wickets in the morning session, all of which were clean bowled before Cork got the first of his haul to leave Glamorgan struggling on 72-5 before lunch.

Tom Poynton also impressed for Derbyshire, taking four catches on his first game at Derby in over a year during the afternoon session as Davis and Cork shared the remaining wickets.

Bradley Wadlan top-scored for Glamorgan with 50 before he was the second of Cork’s victims. The last man out was Dewi Penrhyn Jones when Cork enticed his edge to Poynton and Glamorgan were all out for 238.

In reply, Scott Elstone hit 30 before being bowled by David Lloyd but at the close Derbyshire were 91-2 with Chesney Hughes unbeaten on 36 and Tom Wood 17 not out.
