Draw at Queen's Park after further rain

Friday 22nd September 2017
Written by Danny Painter

Derbyshire and Kent were forced to settle for a draw after certain areas around the square remained unfit for play in their Specsavers County Championship fixture at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield.

Heavy rain in the days building up to the fixture, followed by overnight rain on Wednesday and throughout Thursday afternoon at Chesterfield, caused increasingly soft ground conditions around the edge of the square.

The umpires inspected at 9am on the final morning and with dew on the ground adding to previous rain, deemed certain areas of the outfield unfit and the match was abandoned with both teams taking five points.

Derbyshire conclude their 2017 season with a trip to face Gloucestershire in the Specsavers County Championship at The Brightside Ground, Bristol, starting on Monday 25 September; 10.30am.
