Elstone guides Seconds to 50-over victory

Scott Elstone struck an unbeaten 172 from just 139 balls as Derbyshire Second XI defeated Northamptonshire by 96 runs in a Second XI Trophy match at Belper Meadows.

Elstone hit 16 fours and four sixes in a blistering innings as Derbyshire amassed 331-4 from their 50 overs after being put into bat.

Tom Knight added 69 off 82 balls, including three fours and one six, while opener Ben Slater hit 36 as Derbyshire posted an imposing total.

A strong Derbyshire bowling attack dismissed Northamptonshire for 235 in reply despite David Murphy (44), Matthew Plater (36) and Akhil Patel (29) all getting starts in the top order.

Will Davis (2-29), Tony Palladino (2-33), Greg Cork (2-34) and Tom Taylor (2-57) all picked up two wickets while Tom Milnes, on loan from Warwickshire, claimed 1-25 as the hosts claimed a emphatic 96-run victory.
