The opening game of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 at Derby is already close to being a sell-out as fans snap up tickets for this summer’s competition.

Excitement is building for the global sporting tournament with 100 days to go until the competition starts in Derby, which will host eight games in total.

Hosts England will face India on Saturday 24 June in the tournament opener. Tickets went on sale last Wednesday and, after unprecedented demand, only a limited number now remain.

The Club is encouraging supporters who wish to attend the opening game to purchase their tickets early to avoid disappointment.

Since tickets went on sale last Wednesday, nearly 3,000 tickets have been sold in the first week across all fixtures.

Tickets for India versus Pakistan, on Sunday 2 July, and the second Semi Final, on Thursday 20 July, have also received high interest.

Tournament Director, Steve Elworthy, said: “We are pleased with how the first week of sales has gone, giving us a really strong start.

“Tickets are selling for each of the 31 matches, with some already starting to approach a sell-out. With tickets at affordable prices, fans should buy now to avoid missing out on watching the world’s best players in action.”

Tickets for group stage matches start at £10 for adults, £5 for students (aged between 17 and 23) and £2 for under-16s.
