Billy Godleman’s unbeaten 70 led Derbyshire to a fifth-straight win over Yorkshire in Twenty20 cricket.

Godleman smashed a half-century as the hosts chased down a total of 166-5 to win the match, while Leus du Plooy managed 30 as the Falcons began their Vitality Blast campaign with a win.

Mark Watt took 4-19, the best bowling figures for a Derbyshire player on T20 debut, while Logan van Beek and Ravi Rampaul also claimed two wickets each, Yorkshire posted a total of 164-8.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Yorkshire struck 16 runs from the first over of the match, before Ravi Rampaul followed that up with a maiden.

Logan van Beek made an instant impact on his T20 debut for Derbyshire, bowling Tom Kohler-Cadmore (7) with his first delivery, while Rampaul had Adam Lyth (21) caught by Darren Stevens.

Watt’s spell proved a hugely-productive one for the Falcons, as he claimed the wickets of David Willey (6), Harry Brook (7), Gary Ballance (5) and Nicholas Pooran (12) for just 19 runs, the best T20 figures by a Derbyshire player on debut.

Jordan Thompson’s 50 came from just 26 balls including two fours and five sixes, as the visitors posted a total of 164-8 from their 20 overs.

Fynn Hudson-Prentice opened the batting with Godleman, and he smashed two fours in the first over before being caught by Kohler-Cadmore off Willey.

Luis Reece came to the crease and hit the first six of the innings on his way to a score of 18, while Wayne Madsen managed 13 before he was trapped lbw by Dom Bess.Godlman brought up his half-century in 37 balls, including three fours and three sixes, as he led Derbyshire to a match-winning total, with Leus du Plooy’s 30 also proving crucial.
