Falcons suffer another washout

Wednesday 15th June 2016
Written by Danny Painter

The Royal London One-Day Cup fixture between Derbyshire and Warwickshire at Edgbaston was abandoned without a ball bowled, a third successive washout.

Today’s abandonment comes after the Falcons’ fixture versus Yorkshire Vikings  on Sunday was abandoned after just an over of play, whilst the NatWest T20 Blast match at Trent Bridge on Friday was also lost to the weather.

Heavy rain over Birmingham over the last few days meant that the outfield at Edgbaston was extremely wet and intermittent showers throughout the day left the umpires with no other choice than to abandon the match at 2pm.

Both sides take a point from the Edgbaston fixture, meaning Derbyshire have six points at the midway stage of the competition, which sees them sitting top of the North Division with the next block of 50-over fixtures towards the end of July.
