After the announcement that Derbyshire have signed James Neesham for the 2016 NatWest T20 Blast, we take a look back at his career so far.

Born on 17 September 1990 in Auckland, New Zealand, Neesham, who also goes by the nickname of Jimmy, is a middle-order batsman and a right-arm fast medium bowler.

Like his compatriots and Derbyshire teammates, Hamish Rutherford and Neil Broom, Neesham plays domestic cricket for Otago having made the switch from his hometown Auckland in 2012.

After a string of impressive performances for Otago, Neesham was called up to the Test squad in February 2014, having previously made his ODI and T20I debuts in 2013 and 2012 respectively.

The all-rounder shot to fame in his first two Tests, becoming the first New Zealander, and only the eighth player ever, to score centuries in each of his first two Test matches.

In the same year, Delhi Daredevils signed Neesham to play in the Indian Premier League before he was snapped up by Guyana Amazon Warriors for the Caribbean Premier League, clearly demonstrating his prowess as a Twenty20 player.

Along with Rutherford and Broom, Neesham was also part of the Otago Volts who surged to the final of the Georgie Pie Super Smash in the winter of 2015.

You can see James in a Derbyshire shirt this summer, starting with the NatWest T20 Blast fixture versus Leicestershire Foxes on Sunday 3 June at The 3aaa County Ground – and 2016 Membership is still the best value way to watch.

Derbyshire CCC Membership for 2016 is on sale. Purchase online at derbyshireccc.com, in person at The 3aaa County Ground or by calling 0871 350 1870.
