Tall, fast and keen to prove himself in England, Derbyshire has signed Australia international Billy Stanlake for this summer’s Vitality Blast.

The 24-year-old has over 20 international caps to his name, whilst he has also featured in multiple twenty-over competitions across the globe, including the Big Bash League and Indian Premier League.

Stanlake was an important performer for the Adelaide Strikers in the 2017/18 Big Bash League as they went on to lift the trophy, as he took 11 wickets at an average at 22.36.

The fast bowler’s breakthrough international performance also came in 2017 against New Zealand, when he produced a man-of-the-match performance to take wickets with his first two balls and record figures of 3-15.

Stanlake has enjoyed success in the shorter format on the international stage since, taking 25 wickets at an average of 20.08 with best figures of 4-8.

Capable of reaching speeds up to 93mph, the 24-year-old can trouble any batsman with his standout pace and skill.

Standing tall at six feet and six inches, Stanlake also has the ability to get the most out of a surface, often using his height to get excessive bounce.

The Australia international has become a white-ball specialist, enjoying success in both limited overs formats throughout his career, taking 87 wickets to-date.

He was also a key member in Australia’s 2014 Under-19 World Cup team, where Stanlake took five wickets at 19.40, including 2-36 against South Africa in the semi-finals.

Stanlake will join up with Twenty20 Coach Dominic Cork and the rest of his teammates ahead of the opening Vitality Blast match against Yorkshire Vikings on Saturday 20 July.
