Godleman incredibly proud after Northamptonshire win
Captain Billy Godleman says he’s incredibly proud as Derbyshire beat Northamptonshire by one wicket in a thrilling Specsavers County Championship match.
Harvey Hosein hit 54 not out to see his side home, after Wayne Madsen earlier scored 62, as Derbyshire claimed victory by just one wicket in a tense finale on the final day at Wantage Road.
The win was the second in as many matches for the county, who move up to fourth in Division Two.
Godleman said: “It was a fantastic game and a real pleasure to be involved with. I’m incredibly proud of the guys for finding a way to stay in the game when we weren’t at our best and then to show the composure and skill to knock the runs off.
“These are the type of games when I first started out as captain that we didn’t win and we’ve always tried to bank those experiences and try to improve and when the chance comes we find a way to get over the line.
“It’s been an all-round effort but special praise to Harvey to get us up at the end.”
