Godleman previews Loughborough MCCU

Thursday 6th April 2017
Written by Danny Painter

Billy Godleman says the Loughborough MCCU three-day fixture, starting on Friday 7 April, will be a good chance for the squad to push a claim for the XI to face Northamptonshire the following week.

The season starts with a pre-season friendly away to Loughborough this weekend, before Specsavers County Championship cricket returns to The 3aaa County Ground on Friday 14 April with the visit of Northamptonshire.

Captain Godleman said: “The Loughborough fixture is a good opportunity for us to get some outdoor match time. Both the bowlers and batters can get some competitive cricket under their belt.

“We’ve spent quite a bit of time in the Briggs of Burton Pre-Season Marquee which has been excellent practice for us but it’s now time we start transitioning into competitive cricket.”
