Billy Godleman was delighted with Derbyshire Falcons’ win over Worcestershire Rapids in the Vitality Blast.

The captain scored 92 as the Falcons defeated the reigning champions by 2o runs at The Pattonair County Ground, with Matt Critchley claiming 4-37.

Godleman was pleased with the victory, and praised the team for a good all-round performance against the Rapids, which send Derbyshire to fourth in the table.

“We’re delighted to beat a really difficult outfit, Worcestershire are a really good team and they are reigning champions, so to beat them convincingly is really special,” said Godleman.

“We just tried to play the conditions on the day the best that we can. We knew that if we got more than 160, then we would be in with a chance of winning the game, and that’s how it turned out.

“The boys are pumped and happy with the work tonight, but there’s still a lot of cricket and we will use the next 24 hours to rest up and go again strong against Leicestershire.”
