Billy Godleman believes the squad will learn from the 2015 campaign and come back stronger in 2016 following a busy winter of work.

The left-hander admitted it has been disappointing at times this season to not get over the line in close-fought matches but says the team are now determined to put that right next summer.

The squad now have some time off before getting back down to hard work in November as preparations begin for the 2016 season.

Godleman said: “There were times this year where we played really well and won, there were times where we didn’t quite get over the line because of our skills not being quite good enough and there were times when we didn’t get over the line because we didn’t have the experience of winning those close games.

“Now we have experienced that, we must be winning those close games next year.

“It’s very important that we use the time wisely in October. I will be making sure that I get out of the cricketing space, get a change of scenery and come back refreshed.

“We will be back as a group in early to mid-November and it’s important that we are really clear about what we need to do as individuals to improve our game.

“We will then work on stuff tactically as a group so that when the time comes in April we will have taken steps forward and we have improved as a unit.

“We want to be competing at the right end of the table and I believe we have the potential to do that. It was disappointing to miss out this summer but the whole squad are determined to put that right in 2016.”
