Harvey Hosein says that the Derbyshire squad want to build on their 2019 Vitality Blast campaign, and push for success in the longer forms of the game.

Hosein did not play in the Vitality Blast, as Derbyshire reached their maiden Finals Day, but he took the gloves in the Specsavers County Championship, where he struck five half-centuries, and the Royal London One-Day Cup.

The 23-year-old says that the Twenty20 run bred confidence throughout the entire club, and wants that feeling to be taken into all formats in 2020.

“The Vitality Blast campaign gave us the confidence and belief that we can compete with the very best,” Hosein said.

“We got down to the final four teams in that competition, and I see no reason that we can’t push for that kind of success in all formats next season.

“It’s a big confidence boost for everyone, the side got to Finals Day and it almost puts you on the map and reminds everyone that we are contenders and want to be pushing hard in all competitions

“It’s always nice to play the best opposition, because it brings out the best in you. I think when you are up against a good challenge, everybody is up for the fight. Every team has really good players, and I think it is something that almost makes you raise your game.

“We are all professional cricketers and we want to win, and it gives you even more confidence when you are going up against the best teams and competing with them.”
