As pre-season preparations focus more on skills-based training, Lead Physiotherapist Fran Clarkson gives an overview of current injuries within the squad.

Alfie Gleadall

The 18-year-old fast bowler suffered a lower-back stress fracture last year and had a slow start to training before Christmas, but continues to progress well along his tailored rehabilitation plan.

The medical team at Derbyshire will continue to work with Gleadall over the next couple of months to increase his strength and conditioning workloads and progressively build in cricket skills.

He has been working in detail with Steve Kirby to address bowling specific skills in these early stages of rehab and will be working up to full bowling over the next two months.

Luis Reece

The all-rounder missed much of last season with a broken metatarsal in his right root, sustained in the Royal London One-Day Cup in May, but he is now back to full fitness.

The 28-year-old worked extensively with the Club’s medical team throughout the summer, before returning to the field in September, and now he is playing a full part in training and hungry to hit the ground running this coming season.
