Heavy overnight rain forced the abandonment of Day One of the Specsavers County Championship match between Derbyshire and Kent at Queen’s Park.
Poor weather at Chesterfield resulted in a number of damp patches on the outfield and left certain areas unfit for play, with the umpires abandoning play after an inspection at 12.40pm.
The last home fixture of 2017 is scheduled to get underway at 10.30am tomorrow.
Cricket Advisor Kim Barnett said: “There are dangerous areas close to the pitch and it’s also wet on the perimeter. The umpires deemed that in two hours time it would still be unfit and they make the decisions, it doesn’t go to the captains.
“Hopefully we can start on time tomorrow, weather permitting. The drainage here is much improved and has been excellent all summer, but it’s been bad overnight weather.”
Supporters with matchday tickets for Day One should retain their tickets and this can be used at any of the remaining three days during the 2017 season.
Alternatively, if a supporter is unable to attend, a refund may be claimed by applying in writing to the ticket office enclosing your ticket(s) along with your name and address.
