Preparations for the 2016 season begun today as the first team squad, training at the new University of Derby Sports Centre, reported back for the first day of pre-season training.

The Club’s Official Partners provided an elite setting as the players started their pre-season programme, which began with fitness testing with Strength & Conditioning Coach Dr Jamie Tallent and Lead Physiotherapist James Pipe.

The full squad, which included new signings paceman Andy Carter and all-rounder Tom Milnes, were present for the session. The squad will be in training throughout the winter ahead of the Briggs of Burton Pre-Season Tour to Abu Dhabi in March and the start of the 2016 season in April.

Tallent and Pipe worked in collaboration with James Keenan (Lecturer of Strength and Conditioning) and Dr Matt Higgins (Senior Lecturer in Nutrition and Metabolism) from the University. Both continue to play key roles as Sports Science advisors to the Club.

Here is how the first day back unfolded on Twitter.
