Derbyshire has named a 12-man squad for the Specsavers County Championship match against Glamorgan at The Pattonair County Ground on Sunday 19 May; 11am start.

Billy Godleman comes into the fixture on the back of an impressive Royal London One-Day Cup campaign, where he became the first Derbyshire player to record three consecutive List A centuries as he finished with 521 runs at an average of over 74.

Madsen also enjoyed a positive 50-over campaign, hitting over 400 runs at an average of 58, whilst he recorded an unbeaten double-century in the county’s last four-day fixture against Gloucestershire.

Tom Lace re-joins the Derbyshire squad after hitting a half-century for Middlesex against Leicestershire in mid-week.

Luis Reece will be looking to continue his good start to the red-ball season with the ball, as he is Derbyshire’s leading wicket-taker with nine at an average of 14.22 and best figures of 5-47.

Anuj Dal has enjoyed success with the red ball this week, as he notched 199 runs in two innings for Derbyshire’s Second XI, hitting 126 and 73 against an experienced Durham side.

Tony Palladino is set to feature after a career-best performance in the same fixture last year, when he took 10-81 to claim his first  ten-wicket match haul.

Pre-Match Talk

Alex Hughes is looking forward to Derbyshire’s return to red-ball action as the county prepares to face Glamorgan in the Specsavers County Championship on Sunday.

Derbyshire have made a strong start in the four-day competition, winning their opening round match against Durham and battling for a hard-fought draw in Bristol against Gloucestershire.

Hughes has enjoyed a positive start himself, recording an unbeaten century in the draw at Bristol and he is now hoping Derbyshire can continue their red-ball form.

Hughes said: “I think all the boys are really excited and can see something special possibly happening this year, but we know there’s a lot of cricket to go.

“We’ve only played two games so it is very early to say but a lot of positive signs have come out of those two games.

“All the boys are raring to go and looking to win more games for Derbyshire. It has been a good start to the year so why not win a few more games.”
