Pre-Match Pack: Northamptonshire

Saturday 13th July 2019
Written by Danny Painter

Derbyshire name a 12-man squad for the Specsavers County Championship match against Northamptonshire at Queen’s Park, starting on Sunday 14 July; 11am.

The four-day match begins the BRM Solicitors Chesterfield Festival of Cricket, in association with Chesterfield Borough Council, in a repeat of last year’s encounter at Chesterfield.

Billy Godleman and Luis Reece are set to continue at the top of the order, while Wayne Madsen, who hit a century in the victory in 2018, remains in the middle-order.

Hamidullah Qadri, who was selected for the upcoming England U19s Tri-Series this week, comes into the squad to provide an additional spin option, complemented by leg spinner Matt Critcley, as well as Leus du Plooy’s slow left-arm bowling.

Reece leads the way for Derbyshire with 37 County Championship wickets, while Ravi Rampaul trails him by just one.

Tony Palladino provides a reliable and run-saving option, also contributing with 23 wickets at an average of 23.56.
