Luis Reece struck 61 as Derbyshire Falcons were beaten by Notts Outlaws at a sold-out Pattonair County Ground.

Ben Duckett (64) and Alex Hales (63) put together a decisive 92-run partnership for the visitors, who posted 198-5 from their 20 overs, despite wickets for Matt Critchley, Fynn Hudson-Prentice, Ravi Rampaul and Mark Watt.

The Falcons managed 171-8 in reply, with Notts securing a 27-run victory in Derby, with Harry Gurney taking 5-30 and Imad Wasim claiming 1-16.

The Notts opening pair of Joe Clarke (27) and Hales put on 51 runs in six overs before the former was caught by Daryn Smit off Fynn Hudson-Prentice.

That brought Duckett to the crease, and the key partnership of the innings began, with Hales reaching his half-century in 34 balls, including four fours and two sixes, while Duckett followed-suit by reaching 50 in 30 balls.

Hales was caught by Hudson-Prentice off Critchley, while Duckett fell to Mark Watt when he was caught by Anuj Dal, as the hosts posted a total of 198-5,

Hudson-Prentice opened the batting with Billy Godleman and started positively, hitting two fours in the first over in an exciting 17 before being caught by Jake Ball off Gurney.

Reece arrived at the crease and scored quickly, reaching his half-century in 29 balls, including three fours and three sixes, before the quick wickets of Godleman and Wayne Madsen dented Derbyshire’s chances of victory.

Reece himself was caught by Moores for 61, to all but end the Falcons’ hopes, while Alex Hughes and Leus du Plooy were both dismissed in the 18th over as the Falcons fell short of the required total.
