Derbyshire Second XI sealed a six-wicket victory over Nottinghamshire Second XI on the final day of their thee-day friendly at Denby, thanks to thirties from trialists Ben Slawinski and Josh Clarke.

Beginning the day on 2-1, Derbyshire required another 117 to win and cruised to victory in just under 40 overs. Opener George Sellers (11) put on 55 for the second wicket with Slawinski (36) to put Derbyshire in complete control and towards their target of 119.

Sellers fell to the bowling of Jack Blatherwick (2-41) and Slawinski followed shortly after being bowled by Matt Milnes to leave the hosts 63-3. Luis Reece, who took four wickets in Nottinghamshire’s first innings, scored 10 before he was lbw to Blatherwick leaving Derbyshire on 77-4.

But Clarke, who scored a hundred in the first innings, hit eight fours in his knock of 36 not out and along with the support of Daryn Smit (9 not out) saw Derbyshire home to a comfortable victory.
