Derbyshire Second XI suffered a 66-run defeat to Yorkshire in the Second XI Trophy, but Greg Cork, Tom Milnes, Callum Parkinson and trialist Josh Clarke all claimed two wickets each.

The 50-over fixture, played at the Raygar Arena, began with Yorkshire batting first, having won the toss. They managed to score 270 by the time they were bowled out after 47 overs with Ryan Gibson and Harry Brook top-scoring with 70 and 69 respectively.

Cork returned 2-36 from his six overs, in addition to a run out, whilst skipper Milnes (2-42), Parkinson (2-48) and Aussie Clarke (2-61) also secured two wickets. The other wicket to fall went to Academy bowled Dan Gibbs who returned 1-28.

In reply, Derbyshire lost opening pair George Sellers (4) and Tom Wood (0) early, before Clarke went for 14 whilst the score was 51-3.

Parkinson rounded off a solid all-round performance to score 26 whilst young Academy ‘keeper James Sookias also added late runs with 21, but Derbyshire were bowled out for 204 to give their visitors victory by 66 runs.
