Former England international Ryan Sidebottom will be the guest speaker at the Derbyshire Cricket Society Lunch on Thursday 15 December.

Sidebottom has taken over 1,000 wickets in all forms of professional cricket. The left-arm paceman made his England Test debut in 2001 against Pakistan, and after a wicketless performance and two ODIs, he would have to wait until 2007 before gaining a recall to the national side.

A year later he was named as England’s Player of the Year, which included a Test series triumph in New Zealand, whereby Sidebottom took a hat-trick in the first match, a five-wicket-haul in the second and returned career-best figures of 7-47 in the third.

The 38-year-old retired from international cricket in 2010 after winning the World Twenty20, taking two wickets in the final against Australia in Barbados.

At domestic level, the Yorkshireman spent seven years at Nottingham in between two spells for Yorkshire, where he will play until the end of the 2017 season. He has five Championship pendents – three with Yorkshire and two with Nottinghamshire.

Sidebottom will speak at the Derbyshire Cricket Society Lunch on Thursday 15 December in the Legends Lounge at The 3aaa County Ground, starting at 12pm.
