Matt Critchley signed his first professional contract shortly after a breakthrough 2015 campaign that committed him to Derbyshire until the end of 2017.

The Cricket Derbyshire Academy  in partnership with the University of Derby all-rounder is a leg-break bowler who is also capable with the bat.

He made his first-team debut in May 2015 in the LV= County Championship fixture with Glamorgan at The SWALEC Stadium, before starring in the draw against Northamptonshire a week later at Derby.

The 18-year-old hit his maiden century in only his second first-class fixture, hitting an unbeaten 137 off 179 balls including 16 fours and two sixes, to help Derbyshire recover from 151-7 to post 343 shortly before stumps.

Critchley signed a new two-year deal in September 2015, keeping him at the Club until the end of the 2017 season.
