Shiv Thakor signed a three-year contract extension in 2016 to commit himself to the Club until the conclusion of the 2019 season.
Thakor signed from Leicestershire on a two-year deal in September 2014 and enjoyed a good start to his Derbyshire career, finishing as top wicket-taker in both of the one-day competitions in his first season at the Club.
He scored his first century for childhood Club Leicestershire while competing for the county’s under-9s age group – the youngest player in the Club’s history to score a hundred.
He also made the headlines with a stunning double century for Loughborough Grammar School against Nottingham High School in the David English/Bunbury under-13s National Schools Championship semi-final.
He broke yet more Leicestershire records when he became the first Leicestershire-born player to make a century on first-class debut in scoring 134 against Loughborough MCCU in 2011, an ideal start to his first team career at the age of just 17.
By 2012, Thakor had become a regular fixture in the Leicestershire first-class side and made a tremendous impact on the team. Thakor made four LV=CC half-centuries in just ten innings and topped the averages in both the four-day and 40-over competitions.
After joining Derbyshire for the start of the 2015 season, Thakor scored a half-century in both four-day and 50-0ver cricket, as well as finishing as the Club’s leading wicket-taker in both the NatWest T20 Blast and Royal London One-Day Cup.
