Tom Taylor says he hopes to gain a lot from the chance to train with England’s one-day squad as part of the Potential England Performance Programme (PEPP) Tour to South Africa.

The PEPP are set to fly out to Potchefstroom this Sunday, 24 January, where they will spend two weeks in training before heading to Johannesburg to train with England ahead of their one-day series versus South Africa, under the guidance of Kevin Shine.

Taylor forms part of a six-man touring party that have been training throughout the winter at Loughborough, and he says he cannot wait to get out to South Africa to show what he can do.

He said: “I am looking forward to getting away with the Potential England Performance Programme this Sunday. It will be a great chance to impress after spending a lot of time training at Loughborough over the winter.

“I’ve been spending the first three days of each week with the PEPP and I have really enjoyed it.

“I have mainly been working with Kevin Shine [Fast Bowling Coach]. We’ve been doing a lot of technical work on my game. It has been hugely beneficial.”

Taylor added: “I’m excited to fly out to South Africa on Sunday. We have two weeks in Potchefstroom first for a training camp where we will be able to bowl outdoors, which is key at this time.

“After that, we have a week in Johannesburg with the England squad so it will be good to bowl at them and catch up with a few of those players.

“We have a week working with Ottis Gibson [England Bowling Coach] which will be a fantastic opportunity for me to work with him and see what he has to say about my game.

“Hopefully I will also be able to learn from the bowlers that will be out there, like Stuart Broad. There’s a few guys that are coming out with us that I am sure I can learn a few things from.

“When I get back from Johannesburg, we go pretty quickly to Abu Dhabi on the Briggs of Burton Pre-Season Tour. I should come back from these tours bowling well so I can start the season in good form for Derbyshire.

“There’s a few different technical aspects of my game that I will be working on but it’s all about getting that consistency so I can take lots of wickets for the Club.”
