As part of a #ThrowbackThursday series, today we look back on the Falcons’ NatWest T20 Blast victory versus Lancashire Lightning in May in front of over 3,500 people at The 3aaa County Ground.

With the Club’s largest home NatWest T20 Blast opener crowd and the Sky Sports audience at home watching on, the Falcons produced a fine all-round display to beat the Lightning, the eventual 2015 NatWest T20 Blast champions, by five wickets.

Ben Cotton (2-28) and Tony Palladino (2-22) both claimed two wickets for the hosts as Lancashire were restricted to 127-9 from their 20 overs, whilst former Lightning man Wayne White returned 3-21.

Derbyshire’s overseas duo of Hashim Amla (51) and Tillakaratne Dilshan (38), who was making his Falcons debut at the time, then stole the show as they put on an opening partnership of 93 to calm any Derbyshire nerves in the chase.

Lancashire took a flurry of quick wickets in the middle overs but could only delay the inevitable as Chesney Hughes (21 not out) and Shiv Thakor (1 not out) saw the hosts home with 14 balls to spare to claim a five-wicket win.
