Assistant & Bowling Coach, Steve Kirby, outlines the squad’s progress in training as focus switches to skills-based work at The County Ground.

The former fast bowler, who joined Derbyshire after leaving his role as Head Coach of the MCC, has instilled a number of new initiatives within the squad in his first few weeks and now looks forward to what he hopes will be an exciting 2019.

At the turn of the year the squad focus more on skills-based work, while maintaining momentum from a busy winter of fitness training. Bowlers get overs in the legs as batsmen practice drills with the new season now less than three months away.

Kirby said: “I’m loving every moment of it. Working with every single one of the lads and watching how they’re progressing in the short space of time we’ve been here.

“There’s a massive team ethic and they’re soaking up everything we’re giving them at the moment.”
