VIDEO: Squad train at Loughborough
Training has intensified for the Derbyshire squad, with a number of scenario-based sessions at the National Cricket Performance Centre at Loughborough.
With the season now less than a month away, the squad have been practicing in-game scenarios at the state-of-the-art facility at Loughborough University.
With both batsmen and bowlers practicing with the swinging red ball in early-season conditions, through to final innings run chases in white-ball cricket, the squad have stepped up their preparations ahead of the new season and have set their sights on the opening fixtures.
Wicketkeeper-batsman, Daryn Smit said: “It’s our fourth or fifth session at Loughborough, and it’s a great facility and it’s good to get fresh ideas and fresh options.
“The first game is a great way to challenge ourselves and see how good the winter has been. It’s gone really well indoors, but match intensity and being out in the middle is different to five months indoors.
“But everyone is looking forward to the new season and are up for that first game.”
Derbyshire face Middlesex in the opening Specsavers County Championship game of the 2018 season at The 3aaa County Ground, starting on Friday 20 April.
