All-rounder Shiv Thakor says it was special to hit his maiden List A hundred, but most importantly it was part of a winning cause as Derbyshire Falcons defeated Northants Steelbacks by six wickets.

Thakor hit 130, his highest ever limited overs score, as part of a record run chase for Derbyshire in List A cricket as the Falcons successfully chased down 308 for victory. Billy Godleman added 95 as part of a 168-run stand with Thakor.

The 23-year-old also starred with the ball, returning figures of 3-39, while Alex Hughes picked up 2-59 to help restrict Northants to 307-7, despite a century from Richard Levi.

Thakor said: “It’s been a great day for us all. We held our nerve, stuck to our plan and got over the line against a very good limited-overs side.

“It was special to get it, my first hundred, but it is always more special when it is part of a winning cause. The main thing was that we got the two points that we so desperately wanted.”
