#WeAreDerbyshire Stories: Derbyshire Disabled Cricket Club

Thursday 21st February 2019
Written by Tom Skinner

In the latest edition of our #WeAreDerbyshire Stories feature, Paul Roe, co-founder of Derbyshire Disabled Cricket Club, discusses the formation of the Club and the success that it has had since its foundation in 2005.

The Cricket Derbyshire Foundation’s Oral History of Cricket in Derbyshire project, which is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, has recorded recollections from over 200 participants.

These include former and current players, and focused on audio-visual reminiscences about cricket at every level within the county, from grassroots to the Test arena.

It is this fabric of players, coaches, volunteers and supporters which all contribute greatly to make up cricket in Derbyshire.

In this fifteenth edition, Roe also explains the opportunities which the Club offer to disabled cricketers and the positive impact that it has had.
