#WeAreDerbyshire Stories: Tony Borrington

In the latest edition of our #WeAreDerbyshire Stories feature, we hear from former batsman Tony Borrington about packed crowds and playing against some of the best players in the world.

The Cricket Derbyshire Foundation’s Oral History of Cricket in Derbyshire project, which is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, has recorded recollections from almost 200 participants.

These include former and current players, and focused on audio-visual reminiscences about cricket at every level within the county, from grassroots to the Test arena.

It is this fabric of players, coaches, volunteers and supporters which all contribute greatly to make up cricket in Derbyshire.

In this sixth edition, Borrington discusses the strength of County Cricket in the 1970s and the launch of the John Player League.
