Wickets for Cork on final day

Thursday 16th June 2016
Written by Danny Painter

Greg Cork took 2-16 from 17 balls on the final day of the Second XI Championship fixture with Durham, who claimed victory by five wickets at Darlington Cricket Club.

After Rob Hemmings had finished day two with two quick-fire wickets, Derbyshire Seconds continued to make inroads into the Durham line-up.

The hosts, however, only had to score another 75 runs to ensure victory and started the day with a new partnership of Christopher McBride (14) coming in to join Adam Hickey (38) at the crease.

They put on 41 before Hemmings started the day as he finished the previous evening by dismissing Hickey. The Derbyshire bowler would finish the match with figures of 8-105 from 31.3 overs.

Durham Captain, James Weighell (16), was next to be removed, this time by Cork as the Derbyshire bowler started to ask a few questions of the batsmen. The left-armer would then get the final wicket of the match as he had McBride caught by Cameron Ball.

Sameet Brar (20) came in to replace his skipper and would score the winning runs for the home side as Durham recorded a five-wicket win over Derbyshire Second XI.
