Rain washes out Day Two at Leicestershire

Saturday 28th April 2018
Written by Danny Painter

Day Two of Derbyshire’s Specsavers County Championship match away to Leicestershire was abandoned without a ball bowled after further rain fell at The Fischer County Ground.

More rain fell throughout the morning, worsening conditions on the outfield and forcing the umpires to call an early lunch at 12noon.

With no improvement in conditions on the outfield, umpires Michael Gough and Jeff Evans abandoned the day’s play following a pitch inspection.

This is the second successive abandonment after the opening day was washed out. Both teams will hope to get the fixture underway tomorrow, with play scheduled to start at 11am, if conditions allow.
