Matt Critchley has won the PCA Player of the Month award for April, after a stellar start to the 2021 campaign.

The all-rounder has been in brilliant form with bat and ball so far, scoring one century, four half-centuries and claiming 15 wickets in the LV= County Championship. His 483 runs have come at an average of 60.37, while he even claimed a five-wicket haul against Worcestershire.

Nominated alongside Durham’s David Bedingham, Somerset’s Craig Overton and Gloucestershire’s Ryan Higgins, Critchley earned over 3,000 votes, more than 60% of the overall number cast, to claim the April Player of the Month award.

The 24-year-old will be aiming to hit similar heights in May, as Derbyshire look to move up the Group One table, with an away fixture against defending champions Essex preceding the return of Members to The Incora County Ground against Durham, starting on Thursday 20 May. Critchley and the side will also face Worcestershire at New Road before the month is out.
