Icons Events are set to bring world-renowned hip-hop trio, N-Dubz, to The Incora County Ground on Saturday 24 June.
The locally-based promoter is working with Dappy, Tulisa and Fazer, who dominated the British charts in the 2000s, with their albums Uncle B and Against All Odds, achieving platinum status and more than 1.3 million album sales.
Their smash hit collaboration with Tynchy Stryder – Number One – fittingly topped the charts in 2009, while their success was highlighted by a quartet of MOBO awards: Best Newcomer in 2007, Best Album and Best Act in 2009 and Best Song in 2010 for their single Playing with Fire. And they won a O2 Silver Clef Award in 2009 and were nominated for Best British Single at the BRITs in 2010.
They returned last year with the release of their new single Charmer – an instant classic N-Dubz song featuring the trademark storytelling of Dappy and Fazer, alongside vocals from Tulisa.
Former Love Island star, Wes Nelson, who himself has two platinum singles to his name, will support N-Dubz in Derby, with his smash hit See Nobody likely to get the atmosphere pumping at The Incora County Ground.
The gig is the latest in a long line of huge artists to perform at the home of Derbyshire County Cricket Club, with the likes of Elton John, Little Mix and Michael Bublé set to be joined by The Who this year, when they rock out on Friday 14 July.
Chief Executive, Ryan Duckett, said: “As a multi-purpose venue in the heart of the East Midlands, we are pleased to be working with local promotors, Icons Events, who are set to bring another big music event to The Incora County Ground.
“Hosting major concerts is a key part of our business plan to ensure we continue investment across the Club and to also offer a variety of events for the local community in Derby and the wider region.”
Nathan Thaker, of promotors Icons Events, said: “This gig is going to be absolutely massive, because N-Dubz are back and better than ever. Derby is my hometown and I am determined to bring some of the best events to the city – I really want to put it on the map.
“Securing Wes Nelson too is a real coup, he has a following in his own right, so this gig will be a real attraction for music lovers across the generations.
“This is an exciting time for Derby. The Incora County Ground is a brilliant space for a summer concert and with more venues on the way as part of the city’s revamp I hope this concert is the start of things to come.”
