Dominic Cork enjoyed a successful 13-year playing career with Derbyshire, whilst he will now be hoping to emulate that success as the club’s Twenty20 Head Coach.

The former all-rounder was a pivotal figure for the county during his time at Derbyshire, including a five-year spell as captain when he led the club to the 1998 NatWest Trophy final. We take a look at his career in numbers.

8-53 – A high-class performer from a young age, Cork claimed 8-53 against Essex in the first session of the day on his 20th birthday – a feat unparalleled in the county game.

8 – Alongside John Wright, Cork returned to coach Derbyshire in 2017, helping the club to a first-ever home quarter-final in the Vitality Blast, accumulating a club-record eight wins during the campaign.

505 – The 47-year-old is one of the most successful wicket-takers in the Club’s history, claiming over 500 first-class wickets for the county in 158 matches, at an average of 25.76.

7-43 – Cork made his Test debut for England in 1995, when he took 7-43 against the West Indies to register the best figures by an Englishman on Test debut.

22 – He has recorded over 20 five-wicket hauls for Derbyshire in red-ball cricket, whilst he also has five 10-wicket match-returns, with best innings figures of 9-43.

2010 – In 2010, the former England international showed his expertise in cricket’s shortest format, captaining Hampshire to the Friends Provident T20 title.

200* – Cork also contributed well with the bat for Derbyshire, scoring nearly 6000 first-class runs, including his top score of an unbeaten double-century against Durham in the 2000 season.

73 – Far from a red-ball specialist, he also excelled in twenty-over cricket towards the end of his career, as he took 73 wickets at an average of 23.73 with best figures of 4-16.

02.06.1990 – Cork made his debut for Derbyshire in 1990 against a touring New Zealanders team, in which he claimed a wicket in his first over for the county.

740 – He went on to take 740 wickets for Derbyshire across all forms, putting him 15th on the club’s all-time wicket-taking list.

125 – A typical all-rounder, he was skilled in all departments, including his fielding which helped him to take 125 catches in 321 first-class matches throughout his career.

1996 – Following his impressive introduction on to the international test stage, Cork was honoured as one of Wisden’s Cricketers of the Year in 1996.
