Fynn Hudson Prentice made a remarkable start to his first class career in 2019, scoring 99 and taking a wicket with his first ball against Middlesex at Derby.
He was just the fifth Derbyshire bowler to take a wicket with his first ball, and no batsman had previously scored 99 on debut for the county.
He demonstrated his accuracy with the ball at Kidderminster in the same season when he bowled eight consecutive maiden overs against Worcestershire, and in 2020 produced an outstanding match-winning innings of 91 not out to take Derbyshire to a three-wicket victory over Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge. Derbyshire’s victory total of 365 was their highest ever successful run chase in the county championship.
