Leus du Plooy has been appointed Derbyshire captain and will lead the side in all forms of the game in 2023. He made his debut for Derbyshire in 2019 and created a favourable impression with hundreds – home and away – against Middlesex in the county championship and another against Australia A in a limited overs game.
In 2020 he played one of the great modern innings for the county when he made a sublime and inventive 130 against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.
Having played 100 all formats matches for Derbyshire he has now scored almost 4,000 runs with six hundreds and 22 fifties and was awarded his County Cap in 2022.
