#WeAreDerbyshire Stories: Kevin Dean

Thursday 29th November 2018
Written by Danny Painter

In the latest edition of our #WeAreDerbyshire Stories feature, we hear from former fast bowler Kevin Dean about his early years in cricket.

The Cricket Derbyshire Foundation’s Oral History of Cricket in Derbyshire project, which is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, has recorded recollections from almost 200 participants.

These include former and current players, and focused on audio-visual reminiscences about cricket at every level within the county, from grassroots to the Test arena.

It is this fabric of players, coaches, volunteers and supporters which all contribute greatly to make up cricket in Derbyshire.

In this fifth edition, Dean discusses his beginnings in cricket, from operating the old scoreboard at The County Ground to his debut years with Cheadle Cricket Club.
