All-rounder Matt Critchley reached three figures for the second consecutive match for Fairfield-Liverpool as part of his ECB Overseas Placement in Australia.

After making 149 against Penrith, the 21-year-old hit 126 this weekend in the New South Wales Premier Cricket competition to steer his club to a two-wicket win against local rivals Parramatta.

And just as encouragingly, the Cricket Derbyshire Academy in partnership with the University of Derby graduate was also the pick of the bowlers taking 3-78 with his leg-spin in the Parramatta innings.

Critchley is now riding high in the Premier Cricket batting averages, with 594 runs in nine innings at an average of 66.

Speaking about his winter in Australia, Critchley said: “It’s been a great experience so far and we’ve got some New South Wales players here at our club and I’ve been speaking to them to tighten my technique up.

“I’m learning skills which I can hopefully apply and become a more all-round player and I’m trying to get as much information as I can as young as I can.”
