The ‘Samit Patel Derby’

Having spent 22 years wearing the green and gold of Nottingham, all-rounder Patel has made the switch to Derbyshire for 2024.

The vastly experienced left-armer will be hoping to change Derbyshire’s fortunes in this fixture, with the Falcons unable to overcome their East Midlands rivals in the last few encounters.

Fans of both sides will be raring to see this fixture unfold, in what is anticipated to be a mouth-watering clash of a cricketing great against his former employers and teammates.

It doesn’t get much better than this, summer nights under bright lights watching the Falcons excite in full flight!

Be there to experience the East Midlands Derby

One of county cricket’s fiercest rivalries will see two coaching heavyweights of the game, Mickey Arthur and Peter Moores, pit their wits against each other, as some of county cricket’s best players go head-to-head under the lights in Derby.

The atmosphere is always electric for this fixture, which has seen a number of tense finishes and standout individual performances, with every ball counting in this East Midlands Derby.

The Family Stand also returns for 2024, with allocated seating and a host of fun activities for the whole family, in partnership with the Derbyshire Cricket Foundation.

Last year, the Falcons narrowly missed out on qualification for the knockout stages of the North Group, while Notts Outlaws saw defeat to the hands of eventual winners, Somerset, in the quarter-finals.

The East Midlands clashes in previous years have gone down to the final overs as both sides have gone toe-to-toe in pursuit of victory.  The Falcons will be hoping to go one better and reach the knockout stages of the competition this year, and your support means everything in giving the Falcons that edge in close encounters.

Derbyshire’s newest recruits Pat Brown, Aneurin Donald, Mohammad Amir and David Lloyd will be hoping to rectify recent results over our Midlands rivals, with next year’s T20 clash set to be one of the most exciting derby in recent years.
