Ben McDermott, Sean Abbott and Matt Critchley all struck half-centuries for their respective sides in Australia over the weekend.

McDermott is currently 88 not out for Tasmania in their Marsh Sheffield Shield fixture against South Australia, with Lawrence Neil-Smith (31 not out) also at the crease, leading by 149 runs.

Abbott continued his good form with the bat as he made 86 for New South Wales in the first innings against Queensland at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

His second half-century in as many first-class matches helped New South Wales to a score of 375, before the fast bowler (1-10) claimed the wicket of Sam Heazlett (10) as Queensland ended the day on 111-5, trailing by 24 runs.

Critchley followed up his bowling performance of 2-96 with 59 runs as Fairfield-Liverpool drew with Penrith in the New South Wales Premier Cricket – First Grade.

The all-rounder hit eight fours and one six during his innings, which saw Fairfield-Liverpool end the match on 300-8, chasing 342 to win the match.

McKiernan

Mattie McKiernan hit 30 and claimed 1-54 as South Hobart Sandy Bay CC beat New Town by four wickets in the Cricket Tasmania Premier League – Men’s First Grade.

New Town had hit 217-9 from their 50 overs, but bad weather meant that South Hobart Sandy Bay were set a DLS Revised Target of 149 from 24 Overs, which they managed with three balls to spare.
