Tom Lace will miss the remainder of Derbyshire’s season after suffering a broken finger in the field during Day Four versus Gloucestershire on Wednesday.
The Middlesex-loanee was struck by a pull-shot from James Bracey and immediately left the field to be further assessed at hospital.
He has since undergone successful surgery, but has been ruled out for the rest of the 2019 campaign.
The 21-year-old has scored 780 runs at an average of 43.33 in this year’s Specsavers County Championship.
Everyone at Derbyshire County Cricket Club would like to wish Tom a speedy recovery.
